Gloves Of Love
This week we are conducting our 3rd annual Gloves Of Love event. The Wayne Township Fire Department and the George Day Foundation are joining forces again to provide a pair of warm gloves to each Wayne Township elementary school child. The program this year will focus on 860 kids at North Wayne Elementary and 820 kids at Rhoades Elementary. The gloves will be distribute during dismissal by firefighters, members of the George Day family, township employees and Wayne Township Schools personnel. George L. Day was an Indianapolis Firefighter who retired in 1988 who passed away September 16, 2011. George’s family established a foundation in his name to support special events like Gloves Of Love.
Last year we provided 1650 gloves between two Wayne Township elementary schools.
