waynetwpDr. Jeffrey Butts, MSD Wayne Township, expressed pride and appreciation for the school community partnerships and students in the construction trades program from Area 31 Career Center at Ben Davis High School. Beginning mid-August the students began construction on a new home on Melrose Avenue. These students are now seeing the fruits of their labor as walls are rising and the house will soon be under one roof. Dr. Butts expressed his appreciation to the sponsors in the project: Indy Gateway, a west side community and economic development organization, that provided the vacant lot on which the home is being built, B & W Plumbing and Heating, FedEx, Lowe’s, and ProBuild.

In his December newsletter to the MSD Wayne Township school community, Dr. Butts said that this project is “one of the most tangible examples of the belief behind our district motto: We Are Wayne! Great Schools/Great Community.”  He added “We are stronger — and can accomplish so much more — when we work together as a school system and community.”
