Congratulations to Lawrence Central teacher, Mr. Drew Horvath. Drew was honored by We the People with the John Patrick Civic Education Award, recognized for his enthusiasm, knowledge, and love of this curricular discipline. Horvath has been teaching the We the People curriculum since 1993, providing high school students with a course of instruction on the history and principles of the United States constitutional democracy. Critical thinking exercises, problem-solving activities, and cooperative-learning opportunities help develop intellectual and participatory skills while increasing students’ understanding of government institutions and fostering attitudes that students need to participate as effective, responsible citizens.
IUSA joins MSD of Lawrence Township in congratulating Mr. Horvath and wishing him continued success.
This post was created thanks to a collaboration with Dana Altemeyer, Coordinator of Communications, PR, and Marketing, MSD of Lawrence township.
Indiana’s urban schools offer Hoosier students a rich array of programs, services, and opportunities. IUSA appreciates the opportunity to share the stories that demonstrate what the schools have to offer and the many successes their students, faculty and staff achieve.
