More than 200 Indiana educators, including several from Indiana Urban Schools Association member districts, were honored at the Indiana Bicentennial celebration. These educators are part of the Hoosier Heritage Educators program which recognizes teachers and administrators who come from teaching families. The Hoosier Heritage Educators program is a Bicentennial Legacy Project to identify educators across the state from teaching families. The project aims to encourage youth to follow family traditions and join the teaching profession.  The Hoosier Heritage Educators program was developed by the Indiana Department of Education in collaboration with the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents and was sponsored by George K.
