Shepard Law Academy has been honored with the Stan Harris Citizen Award from the Indiana Council for Social Studies. The award honors Stan Harris, a former Castle High Government teacher and We the People sponsor whose classes won We the People competitions eight times from 1989 to 2002. The award, from the National Council for the Social Studies, recognizes service promoting social studies principles. Only applicants who demonstrate tangible evidence that the efforts of service have an impact upon effecting change are considered. Shepard Law Academy offers an innovative four-year program that integrates social studies and English curriculum for students who are interested in leadership, politics and anyone who wants to work on their English and speaking skills. The students also do a great deal of learning outside the classroom with field trips.
