Congratulations to Romi Patel and Diego Reynoso for earning the Center for Sustainable Energy at Notre Dame (Notre Dame Energy) Top Senior Award at the Northern Indiana Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
Romi Patel and Diego Reynoso’s project Artificial Photosynthesis sought to give a better understanding of the process of photosynthesis.
The students began planning their project in November, with hands-on experimenting in January. Documenting every detail of their project, including background research, safety precautions and detailed reports of their experimentation was part of the submission requirements. The students acknowledged and gave credit to the Science Research class at Elkhart Memorial, and the time it allows for them to experiment.
Follow the link to read the full story, see photos of these outstanding students, and learn more about the photosynthesis process.

Indiana’s urban schools offer Hoosier students a rich array of programs, services, and opportunities. IUSA appreciates the opportunity to share the stories that demonstrate what the schools have to offer and the many successes their students, faculty and staff achieve.
