At Elkhart Community Schools’ Beardsley Elementary, the Brothers of Elkhart, a group of local community mentors donate their time in helping to make a difference in the daily lives and futures for boys in the school. The ”Brothers” are business owners and firemen. They are men who are dedicated to helping shape a successful future for young men in their community. Weekly they visit the boys, strengthening the male bond and engaging in conversations enlightened by their own life experiences, parenting skills, and father-son mentality. Integrity, accountability, and commitment are the three pillars that are the standard for the group of boys who know they are fortunate to have these mentors in their lives.
