Congratulations to the 158 Elkhart Area Career Center students to be inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. These students come from Elkhart and other area high schools, including several IUSA member school districts.
Later this month, Elkhart Area Career Center in Elkhart Community Schools is holding an induction ceremony for 158 new members of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). As explained in the media release issued by Elkhart Community Schools, “The National Technical Honor Society is a national organization founded to reward excellence in career and technical education, to encourage scholastic excellence and skill development, and to cultivate a stronger, more positive image for career education. Students selected for induction have demonstrated high standards of scholastic achievement, skill development, good character, leadership, honesty and responsibility. All were recommended by their instructors and school administrators, and have met strict local and national membership standards. The Elkhart Area Career Center received its charter of membership into the National Technical Honor Society in 1992.”
Elkhart’s career center offers programs to 16 area high schools, including 28 specialized programs for students in their junior or senior years. Almost all programs at the EACC include opportunities to earn college credits through Ivy Tech Community College, Vincennes University and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Among the goals and support offered by the NTHS are scholarship opportunities for career and technical education students to encourage the pursuit of higher education. They also work to cultivate an environment of excellence for a high-competitive, skilled workforce. For over 30 years, NTHS is an acknowledged leader in the recognition of outstanding student achievement in career and technical education.
