Congratulations to the many Indiana High School marching bands that participated in the 44th annual Indiana State School Music Association’s Marching Band State Finals in Indianapolis. The top ten (10) scoring bands in each of the four Open Class Enrollment Categories from the Semi-State competed for the title of State Champion for their respective Open Class Category. From IUSA, special congratulations to member districts and their many successful showings at the state finals.
Two IUSA Member districts finished in the top ten in Class A competition: Lawrence North (MSD Lawrence Township) at 8th, followed by Columbus North (Bartholomew Con. School Corp) in 9th. Bloomington North (Monroe County Community School Corp) tied for 5th, Evansville North (Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corp) finished 8th, North Side (Fort Wayne Community Schools) finished ninth and Decatur Central (MSD Decatur) rounded out the top ten in Class B. Beech Grove (Beech Grove City Schools) competed in Class C and had a sixth place finish.
Previously, Warren Central (MSD Warren Township) and Pike (MSD Pike Township) finished fourth and fifth consecutively in the Scholastic Class A Finals.
And don’t forget – The Marching Pride of Lawrence Township is Pasadena bound! On January 2, 2017, approximately 250 LT students will experience the thrill of being part of the Rose Parade.
