Congratulations to Anderson Community Schools Corporation (ACS) speech pathologist, Sharon Turner. Sharon is one of six finalists selected from among teachers nominated by local businesses and community members. A total of 96 teachers were selected with six finalists who will be among those honored on February 23rd, at 6:00 p.m., at the Madison Park Church of God, Madison County will come together to showcase some of the best and brightest individuals in the area. Each year the Chamber of Commerce honors the “best of the best” with an evening of food, music and fellowship.
Sharon works as a Speech Pathologist at Eastside Elementary helping children better communicate. She works with students with articulation disorders, students with Autism, students who stutter, and students with language delays. Sharon serves as the Department Head for the ACS Speech Pathology department.
“I love helping children so they can be understood and so they can discriminate sounds which in turn often helps with their phonics, spelling, and reading skills”, said Mrs. Turner. “At the end of the day, what matters most to me is family. Whether it is my E2 family or my family at home, it is all the same. Be kind and helpful to one another. The world can be a cold, hard place and we all need someplace warm to go home to. For some, that home happens to be in our E2 building”. Her quote brought Anderson Community Schools Marketing Manager to comment that Sharon’s “Whatever it takes” attitude extends well beyond the classroom. Mrs. Turner’s students are lucky to have her, and so are we!”

Indiana’s urban schools offer Hoosier students a rich array of programs, services, and opportunities. IUSA appreciates the opportunity to share the stories that demonstrate what the schools have to offer and the many successes their students, faculty and staff achieve. We join Madison County in celebrating Indiana’s urban educators.
